Zoo Shots

These shots were all taken this past summer at the San Francisco Zoo. I must admit that I have mixed feelings about animals being kept in a zoo. On the one hand the animals deserve to be out in the wild, instead of being imprisoned in cages. On the other hand, zoos are the only place that most people will have the opportunity to actually be up close and personal with these majestic animals. Hopefully the experience will inspire a greater appreciation for nature and wildlife conservation. Currently the SF Zoo is being renovated to provide better environments for the animals. So as zoos go, the SF zoo is a very good one... The days of the cages with iron bars are pretty much a thing of the past. As a photographer, I know that the only place that I'll be photographing wild animals like tigers and lions and such any time soon is at the zoo.
