I've done work for newspapers among other assignments, but the big attraction to photojournalism for me is trying to capture the essence of an event in a single photograph; to provide the proverbial thousand words. It only seemed natural for me to experiment with digital photography by aiming this camera at my city. I shoot a lot of negative and slide film, and even have some of those shots online, but face it, I don't have a slide scanner, and only get a few prints made of my favorite stuff, so scanning is a hassle. It takes just a little too much work and money to get a lot of my photographs online. Also, closeup work has really caputured my attention and somewhat limited financial resources, so I haven't done a lot of loose in the city type of shooting.
The digital camera fixes all that. I can shoot away, and it's quick and easy to download to photoshop (where I'm still trying to figure out how to make things looks good), and onto a website.... Viola, We have an easy to operate WWW window on THE City!! I don't know when I'm going to have to return the camera, so I can't tell you how many installments there will be in this exhibit. Once again, welcome to my exhibit. I hope you enjoy yourself.
I only held onto the camera for a few weeks, before I had to return it. So the "shot in the city" exhibit is no longer being updated. But it's archived right here, and the other parts of the site are continuing to grow. I now have access to a slide scanner, and that is how I am publishing pictures for the rest of www.shooter.net.
