Good thing it’s only a machine
Tonight. Los Angeles. The San Diego Freeway.
UPDATED: More Photos
I was driving through LA on my way to a conference in San Diego. The top was off, the stereo was cranked, the weather was beautiful and traffic was heavy, the Vette so new it doesn’t have plates yet, and less than 5k on the clock....
I stopped in time, the car in front of me stopped in time, the car in front of him stopped in time. Then the guy behind me plowed into me, shoving me into the car in front of me, and him into the car in front of him… Bummer.
Luckily nobody was seriously hurt—though I know I’m gonna be real sore tomorrow. And it’s only a machine. A material thing. I’m bummed, but not crazy. I even managed to ask if everyone was okay before looking at my car…
So after a trip to Home Depot to get some tools to pry the interior storage compartment off the left rear wheel, and cut away the black plastic that was all crumpled and bent into the exhaust (it’s really a mess under the shattered skin), I was back on the road. Albeit with some duct tape adorning the Silver Beast where the fiber glass had cracked over the wheel well.
Now I’m in San Diego, at my hotel, ready for a visit to the bar in the lobby.
What did they guy that hit me look like???
