Dear Scummy Comment Spammer #2

After deleting hundreds of comment spam entries I give up and turn off comments

Dear Scummy Comment Spammer.

I hate you. I know you’ll never read this entry as you don’t really visit my site, It’s your scripts that visit my site and leave behind “comments” that serve only to create links to your site. It doesn’t matter that the links in your comments get rewritten so they don’t actually point to your site. In fact it doesn’t even matter to you that all comments on my site must be approved by me prior to publishing.  For you it’s simply a numbers game… Scatter your droppings everywhere you can, as often as you can, and maybe some will result in higher page ranking with search engines.  All you are accomplishing is pissing me off and just like your email brethren, destroying a good thing due to your greed and selfishness.

Most people that visit my site don’t leave comments. Few enough leave comments that it’s just not worth my time any more to try to wade through the crap to find the occasional legitimate comment… I know there are “solutions”, like blacklisting, captchas, and other technical means to fight comment spam, but I’ve got better things to do with my time than fight this losing battle. In my surrender, I’ve turned off comments on my site. Maybe I’ll decide to rejoin the battle, but not today.

Were it not for bastards with your sense of entitlement, lack of integrity, and mightily destructive nature, the world would be a better place.
